Working at LifeFlight

Working at LifeFlight.
LifeFlight of Maine believes in investing in the health, safety, and wellness of all of our team members. Taking care of the people who care for Maine is at the forefront of our work.
At LifeFlight, we care about the details:
Mental and Physical Health
- LifeFlight’s Elevate Program includes a full-time, confidential therapist on staff who is available to any member of the team at no cost.
- The program also includes a uniquely designed peer support program, an expansion of the employee assistance program, and a fund for employees to purchase wellness wearables to track stress, fatigue, and promote recovery.

Crew Equipment
- LifeFlight crew members are supplied with some of the lightest helmets on the market, which are designed to decrease neck strain during extended use. The helmets feature innovations to reduce the risk of head injury and to aid in hearing protection through active noise canceling technology. They also afford better vision protection with special polycarbonate shields and are compatible with night vision goggles (NVGs).
- LifeFlight’s white phosphorous NVGs are military-grade.
- Crew members have the option to wear a two-piece flightsuit instead of the standard one-piece.
Competitive Benefits Package
- Competitive wages
- Matching 401k
- Generous PTO
- Health and dental insurance
- LifeFlight of Maine has a partnership with a local realtor and mortgage company to help employees purchase homes.
- LifeFlight of Maine offers education benefits to all employees.

Ongoing Education
- LifeFlight employees are given opportunities throughout the year to attend conferences, trainings, and workshops around the country.
- Bangor Savings Bank Simulation and Learning Labs are at each of LifeFlight’s three bases, allowing clinicians to practice their skills on high-fidelity manikins.
Community Involvement
- Connecting with former patients can be healing for both the patient, and the crew who was on the transport. Many crew members are involved in LifeFlight’s Grateful Patient Program.
- LifeFlight crew members are also invited to take part in Patient Reunions.
- Crew and staff have the option to participate in the Cross For LifeFlight on the LifeFlight of Maine Staff and Crew Team.
A Team Mindset
- LifeFlight hosts day-long annual All Staff Summits, giving all employees the chance to ask questions about operations, learn from industry experts, and spend time with colleagues from other areas of the state.
- The LifeFlight leadership team holds bi-monthly Town Halls to give current updates on operations and answer any crew and staff questions.
- LifeFlight sponsors multiple team-building events a year, including ski days, beach days, and more.
